Nancy Musselman a second grade teacher at Silver Lake Grade
School nominated Jacquee Ward and Jorge Medina for Trucker
Buddy of the Month. "This team has catered to and taught and
challenged my students to learn more and be better people for
several years now. Their routes with U.S. Xpress Enterprises,
require them to travel various routes coast-to-coast and the
postcards they faithfully send make up a great deal of our social
studies curriculum. They write an amazing amount of information
on each one and try to get cards that teach something of each
state. This is a marvelous way for my children to learn US
geography with a personal tie that could never be as interesting
from a book", says Ms. Musselman.
The children ask their Trucker Buddies are going to be in town because they
can have lunch with them and see thier truck. They are very generous with
their hard-earned money as they always purchase items for the children that
go way beyond the postcards. "Not one child has been able to resist their
charms when they let them all crawl into the truck/home and stand on their
bed and then each child gets to sit in the driver seat, pretending to talk
on the CB and drive" comments Ms. Musselman. One thing that interests
the Silver Lake class is that Jacquee and Jorge have been to each of the state
in the nation and have stories from each none. One student said they liked
the fact that Jorge can speak many different languages
Jorge and Jacquee are excellent candidates for Trucker of the Month for August
2009.
