Getting Started - Teacher

Starting your class in the Trucker Buddy program is easy and pain free.  Here are the steps to starting.

1. Once a match is made we will send you the driver's contact information.  Contact them but be patient.  They are busy earning a living pushing their truck down the highway but many can be reached on their cell phone using a hands free device.  The driver's goal is to be a teaching tool to help you make better students.  Ask them how they use technology so you can get an idea how tech savy the are.

2. You can communicate with your driver in many ways. Find what works best with your driver.

One postcard can generate an instant geography, math, current events, science, social study lesson and it gives the students a subject to write you back.

send the pictures with the location on a map.  The class can also follow them around the country if their company will allow it.

Email is always a good option.

Skype and Face Time works well at certain schools.

Of course sending a letter in the mail always works and might confuse the students in a good way.

“This program reaches way beyond a pen and paper,” said Fred Sweetwood, a long time Trucker Buddy and driver for over 40 years. “It paints the Rockies, the bitter cold of North Dakota and the devastation of Oklahoma City and Katrina. It brings America to the classroom through the eyes of a truck driver.”
